After receiving a distress call from a pilot that had crash-landed on a realm not far from Asgard, Loki decided to head there to retrieve the downed pilot, taking with him a pyrokinetic Asgardian by the name of Dagmar, who had recently come to live at the palace for a short while after burning down her home and accidentally killing her family, and had just been offered a job as Loki's personal assistant. She was eager to help, and the two of them traveled to the realm in search of the downed pilot, but wary of the realm's only inhabitant: a large ice bird, known as the Arcilian. Once they arrived, Loki used his magic to search the empty realm for the pilot's life force, which he found, but not without alerting the Arcilian of their presence at the same time. Now pushed for time, the duo attempted to locate the pilot, but were stopped short in their task when the Arcilian appeared, after which, Loki ordered Dagmar to flee, and ran for the nearest cave. Dagmar, however, stood her ground, and used her ability to create and control flames to injure the bird, though it also knocked her from her feet. Seeking to buy her more time, Loki used his Jotun abilities to slide across the icy ground and get the attention of the Arcilian, before then teleporting himself back into the nearby cave at the very last second. The distraction worked, and Dagmar was able to attack a second time, seriously wounding the bird and causing it to retreat, after which, Loki and Dagmar were able to rescue the pilot, and return to Asgard unharmed. Dagmar later accepted Loki's offer of a job, and began work the next morning.
